I got to be honest, this week on DealerELITE kicked my butt! Every day had a little something different going on; not to mention overhauling dE. One of the coolest things is (of course) reaching 6000 dE members! Even though it's a great thing to see, I still think there could be more interaction. We constantly look at how the site performs and always want to bring the best opportunities to the members. However, I wonder if we're really benefiting the entire dE community... not sure.
What does the future hold for DealerELITE? It's an interesting question. I was talking with one of the industry leaders of social media today about this very topic. The mission Chris and I have is to provide a forum to help each other become better, as well as our beloved auto industry as a whole. We see a lot of training material such as overcoming objections, dealership processes, best practices, etc. But this information is everywhere, so why do we come to DealerELITE? What is dE's identity? This in a way is very exciting though because it's the members who make it what it is. We just want to make sure there's a purpose for dE in the future. We keep feeling conference, good idea?
One thing Chris and I have discussed (briefly), is the idea of giving the option to accept donations. You may not know, but DealerELITE is "self-funded" in that WE pay out of our own pockets to bring dE to the masses. You thought the advertisers paid us didn't you??? The advertisers paid in helping dE grow. However, we're still contemplating the idea.
Thinking of a contest for a background image for the new DealerELITE look. What do you think...?

Mike- charge every member a rate that makes sense, so you can grow and develop. I'm in!!
I joined dE when they had the big membership drive and gave away trips to Hawaii for registering. On my trip I got sun-poisoning and bit by some tropical spider that made me blow snot bubbles for a week. So all-in-all, it's a great site. Been able to connect with many like minded car guys and gals that I never would have otherwise. Always good to see new contributors and to get feedback on my own posts. Keep up the awesomeness guys! Love all your stuff.
Mike, I am very impressed with what you have done with Dealer Elite. But sometimes I am not sure if the word "Elite" is over-emphasized. You have a "draw" of thousands of industry people and yet, only the "elite" trainers are heard. If you disagree and challenge the "elite", you can be stifled from even responding.

Don't be afraid of controversy and disagreement. That is what makes life (and blogs) interesting. You are media. Media thrives on disagreement, as does democracy. Is anyone above criticism of their ideas? I think not. Let the readers decide.
Don't censor or prohibit ideas and opinions you don't agree with or you think are disrespectful. And don't let inidvidual contributors "approve/disapprove" the comments to their articles. Let the crowd do that.
This is a very worthy venue I would hate to see disappear. But open it to everyone in the industry, not just the elite "speakers and trainer".
