How to get your customer to provide you with an email address?

Our Manufacture is grading on the number of emails we collect from our customers. This is to provide recall information and other important notices to the customer. We are only able to obtain about 25% of our customers emails. We should be up about 50%, is anyone out there have any tactics that are working.

Thanks

Bill

Ditto to what Chris said and I also found that the receptionist/cashier had better luck with obtaining email addresses from service and parts customers. They present themselves to the clients as less threatening regarding "trying to sell them something"... Same type of word track..."Most of our customers are very pleased to take advantage of the coupons we send out via email... The savings are quite substantial!"

We also have a ballot box in the customer lounge where we raffle off a $100.00 gas card each month. The registration form has a line for email address and included in the instructions it says winners will be notified via email.
Our purchase and sales agreements were modified to include email...It is considered incomplete without one provided! Also, our DMS system asks for an email address at RO writeup if there is not one in the field. There are so many creative ways to obtain them... I paid the cashiers $1.00 per email they obtained in the beginning of our campaign to create a bulk mail list, and that worked tremendously!
