Hi AJ and welcome to dealerelite.
My advice would be to study and learn as much as you can about sales. Many experts post here and there are lots of good articles, blog postings and discussions. Invest in yourself. Watch youtube videos. There are hundreds of videos posted by lots of the best trainers in the industry. Listen more than you talk. Be yourself. Find out what people want and give that to them, they'll give you their money.
Follow the direction of your managers and go to work to work. Avoid negative talking sales people. Maintain a good attitude at all cost.
Go to my website www.theshopperstopper.com and get the FREE training DVD.

Spend as much time as necessary with the customer and emphasize buying today.
A sale is made when Value Exceeds price.
As said above, create value in yourself, the product, and the dealership. Then, Keep in touch after the sale!
And have fun!
Always remember, People buy from people they like so if you sold them a car, they like you. Capitalize on this and ask them to send you business. In addition, always keep in touch with them to make sure when they hear the word CAR, your name is the one that pops in their head immediately. If you do a great job of following up and prospecting, in a few years you wont have to take a fresh up, the customers will come in and ask for you and they are the ones where you make the most money. Being a Car Sales Professional, not a Car Salesperson, is a career not a job, treat it like one.
Like others have mentioned, learn the steps to the sale and follow them, every one of them every time!! People always ask, whats the most important step to the sale and I always tell them it's the one you skipped.
Good Luck and Have Fun!!
