manny i had read a real nice article you wrote regarding a salesman but un able to find it on you page can you e-mail me that article please ?

Gary - You can read all the reviews about Dealer Socket and VIN and they all have strengths as well as short comings. I suggest you grab a piece of paper and you decide what you want it to do for you. How committed ownership is to a CRM, how open management is to a CRM, how techno savy your sales staff is? Integrating a CRM successfully in a dealership when you have not had one is a major undertaking and then when you get one that has a lot of unecessary " whistles & bells" and doesn't really do what you need - hte real mistake was nade before you ever got started. Determine where you and your store are - create your lists of "wants & needs" then start your shopping.

A old trainer told me a long time ago: "Any system will work as long as you do". I have seen average CRM products out perform the more expensive ones because they accomplish exactly what the dealer needs.

Hi,

I was in the technology business for many years and the dealership industry for a few. I am currently out of the dealership industry, but your CRM's suck! All of them are years behind what is truly available in corporate america. I watched a store pay 15k/mo for something that was worth less than 2k/year, just because the stores son thought that the sales rep's body was hot.

A few hints.

1) No long term contracts(The biggest CRM in the world gives free trials and is month to month along with easily exporting data to other CRM's)

2) Don't pay a ton for sales training(Again the biggest CRM provides free training!)

3) Force your DMS to provide data to the CRM system.

If you all followed this solution ReyRey and ADP wouldn't be multi billion dollar areas while you are stuck to grinding to survive they were built on your back! There are hundreds of other companies I could name but am not email me if you want more information.

You are more concerned over who is underselling who but you really need to hire a consultant that looks at it from a prospective of what is right for the store and not right for a dealership. I know of more than one store that is paying over 25k/mo due to idiotic decisions when choosing a DMS. Would you cross the street or pay a consultant a one time fee of 15k to save 25k/mo over 5 years? What about a 12 store deal I saw they were making 2.1M a month when their cost was around 25k/mo. Now that is some nice margin.

Cheers!

-Linn

Gary, anytime I hear a dealership looking for a CRM tool, this means a dealership wants to take the first step in retainig their customers!  As you found out there are a tons of CRM tools out there from simple to elaborate.  I had a worked with DealerSocket over the last few years.  Those guys know what they are doing, additionally they have excellent support (which you will need as your people are learning the tool).  They can customize any type of marketing campaigns for sales or fixed.  Like with any tool, you will need to assign a champion who will monitor and track activities and provide reports for GM or Owner.  Bottom line - DealerSocket is a great tool and I highly endorse it.

Garry I can't say what I think of DealerSuckit, I have no interest in this game any more, but they resell data from your DMS information to everyone else. They may say they don't but they do, you have to look at real CRM systems that are truly for the company and not the other outside vendors etc.

Gary, There are so many different CRM services out there and most are the same costs.  You can negotiate using some of the dealer group prices if you have a contact there.  We've been with Autobase for years and it's served us well.  It's functional and integrates well with our DMS provider.  There are certainly some limitations that I hate but it's the lessor of two evils I guess.
When i come up for renewall we will review everyone again to see whose better than what we currently use.  Not sure this helps, but its worth checking out.

Thanks for this tremendous opportunity for me...I have an article half written that exposes at least one CRM for what it really is.  I'll be sure to send you a copy the moment I publish....

g~

Gary can you recall a little about the article so I can find it for you?

Thanks!!

I have learned CRM is not a person, dept, position. Its a culture.

This is what most miss.

I agree that CRM is a culture. More important than features and benefits is the implementation, training, integrity of the data (such as merging customers, de-duping, and retro active reporting). I have been in DMS sales for 3 1/2 years and continue to hear great things about Dealer Socket. They have a 90% retention rate and have a great follow up process to ensure dealer's success. Good luck

You should be able to prove allegations like this, as they are serious. If you can't, you put yourself at risk of a libel suit. Just sayin'
