As a former dealer "kid" and now Regional Manager for Automotive Computer Services in the Northeast I'm curious where dealers stand when making a DMS decision. While certainly the majority of dealers are with either ADP or Reynolds there are many viable choices out there.
In today's economy (and our future) and as technologies change it's not always the best thing to "stay the course". While I certainly don't think there is one company out there that is the Utopia of DMS; there are a few that usually make the "final cut" in the decision process.
For those of you who have looked at various Dealer Management Systems recently or are beginning the process;
- How far out are you from your existing contract ending before you begin the process?
- How many vendors do you review initially?
- How many make the final review?
- Where do you go to review various systems; NADA survey? 20 Group colleagues? 3rd Party Consultant? NADA Convention? Dealers you know that have just gone through the process? Automotive News? Digital Dealer? Other?
- If opting to convert from your existing system what do you feel is a realistic time frame from the point of saying "GO" to installation and go live?
My thanks to those that contribute!
Best,
Darrin
