I know there is the ongoing friction between dealers on restyling dealerships on a regular basis, but why don't people at the corporate level seem to be interested in helping dealerships directly with salespeople so much when that will bring the biggest ROI?

Matt, when you say corporate level, I assume you mean the manufacturer and not a group that you work for.

Years ago, I was invited to attend a grand opening for a new dealership in Baton Rouge.  Initially, that store had two partners and one bought out the other.  When that happened, the manufacturer demanded that the store be moved to a better location. This new store was huge and a really beautiful facility.  I was walking around admiring some of the original art, when the Zone Manager approached me.  He asked me what I thought of the store.  I told him it was amazing but wondered how he was going to pay for it.  He said, "if he can't pay for it, the next guy will be in it for a lot less".  "We have a big new store, projecting the image we want, where we want it".
