How many dealers are using an e-mail Newsletter? What vendor and what type of success? IMN, Outsell, 3 Birds? Do you use other targeted e-mail to your database in addition to the Newsletter (eg targeting customer who haven’t been in for service in 12+ months or haven’t bought in 2-3 years)?

Hi Chris,
A number of our clients utilize e-newsletters. They're an excellent tool for keeping your customer base engaged. Service coupons within a general e-newsletter are often popular. Make sure you're keeping pictures to a minimum, and if you want to have multimedia such as TV ads, radio ads, etc, link them out to landing pages or to parts of your website, to help e-mail deliverability.and conversion. It's often successful to dovetail a section of the newsletter with the promotion you're running in broadcast and digital advertising, a concept we call "spiral integration" (all media working in harmony).
As far as other types of e-blasts, targeting your customer database for sales and service is a great way to increase business and increase customer loyalty. Just make sure it's being spaced out enough relative to other e-blasts like the newsletter to where people won't be overwhelmed. One tactic that has worked well with CBC clients is creating a e-blast in conjunction with a sale event that's happening, but we send it to the customer base a few days before the event, telling them it's a "pre-sale", just for them.
If you'd like to see an example of one of those sales-event e-blasts, give me a call at 800-222-2682 or e-mail me at matt@cbcads.com.
Thanks Chris,
