Let's talk about a major profit center in the retail operations of the dealership, which is often looked upon as the "red-headed" step child, so to speak!
Are your parts counterpersons sales people who have received the proper training to sell from the retail counter, or merely folks with a lot of mechanical knowledge who get through the day as "order-takers"? Many dealers and GM's do not have a fixed background, and due to lack of familarity with those departments, folks in fixed are sometimes left to fend for themselves. What an oppurtunity for increased revenue in your dealership!
What are your thoughts on this? How do you feel regarding pricing structures on parts and accessories to the retail public? Do dealerships compete with the local aftermarket parts stores?
