The best sales manager is in your store!   Too many dealers want sales managers to do "other" things.  Sales managers have 3 functions in my world, 1. Work with a sales rep with a customer. 2. Work with a sales representative to find a customer. 3. Train sales representatives.  Far too often the sales manageer is the catch all for all the other things that need done in the store. Let them manage sales please.  I have hired many many sales managers and most have been from within the store they work.  All of them were trained for the duties they have been assigned.  Sell cars, find customers and train sales staff.
