To clear up any confusion, as the vice president and editorial director of Dealer Communications (publisher of Dealer magazine, Digital Dealer magazine; Dealer Fixed Operations magazine and the Digital Dealer Conference & Expositions, www.dealer-magazine.com) we have nothing to do with this article, nor have we commented on it. From what I understand, this is an article on ADM's site with whom we have no official affiliation.

This is not the type of content you will find in any of our publications or on any of our sites.

Thank You Cliff!
So glad to hear that you do not subscribe to the thought process that went into this article. I would hate to have had to cancel my membership in each of your wonderful, enlightening and educational businesses because someone there let a sexiest, unappreciated, underwritten and just plain tasteless article like that go to print.

As for myself, and other women that I know in the auto industry... we have enough problems trying to get past the "good ole boys club", the proverbial glass ceiling and any other name that you want to put on it without garbage like this passing as literary work. I cannot believe that the professional women profiled in the article found no offense with it and agreed to be in it. Thank you for continuing to be a leader in industry and a forum for those trying to take it to the next level.
Hi Cliff-

I applaud you for stepping up to the plate and making us aware that this was not an article you would either endorse or support! My comments will going directly to Ralph Paglia of ADM. His actions speak louder than words! Unprofessional and outdated!

Many Thanks,

Becky Chernek
Agreed. With so many things that we should be talking about, mentoring others, and challenging ideas, that type of banter is brain cancer to me and inappropriate.
Smart response Cliff! Marketing 101-with a lack of business class. Gain attention to prompt readership interest.
Fuchsia McInerney, author of the blog at http://www.fuchsiamac.com/top-10-sexiest-women-in-social-media/ that Ralph re-posted on ADM had this to say when I invited her to post in the thread there. You are welcome to email her directly if any of you need verification or clarification. Here's the text of her reply, unedited, food for thought:

"Hi Keith

I had difficulty posting on the thread, but you are welcome to quote my thoughts below if you'd like.

"As the author of the original post, as well as an alum of the largest women's college in the United States, a mother of three, and a CEO running a company predominantly staffed by men, managed by women, in an industry dominated by men, I would never post something that I felt disrespected or objectified women. Conversely, this piece was designed to attract publicity to prominent women in this field and their projects, all of whom agreed to participate with enthusiasm, provided photos, bios, etc., with a catchy headline and a light-hearted twist. Overwhelmingly and with very few exceptions, this has been the result.

Depending on a multitude of circumstances, it's justifiable enough to jump atop the soap box and protest the objectification of women. In this case, however, what is sexy? Is it their success, their high-powered positions, their innovation in the industry? I think those things are likely far sexier than the photos that they submitted, and I think that the vast majority of people who read this can appreciate that as well. This, ultimately, is why they were chosen for this piece.

I can't speak to the automotive industry personally and I haven't read the entire comment thread here, but hopefully some of the commentary was productive, progressive and educational, if a little controversial."

Marv, thank you for showing enough integrity to state you had not read the article... Unfortunately, there have been multiple derogatory comments made by people who have obviously not read the article itself. I say obviously because the article clearly states who put the list together and each bio, when read, is clearly written by the women themselves.

I've not read it but the title turned me off. I believe women are the wave of the future in F&I and any intent to add more fuel to the already raging inferno of the battle of the sexes is lame and misguided.
I guess this means we won't be seeing a Digital Dealer Magazine Swimsuit edition Now!
Leave it to Jim to add humor ! dE is is happy to see Jim back on the site.
I do want to add that Ralph is a personal friend and a stand up guy. I would never accuse him of being a sexist.

Give me a break, to say the article was tasteless is bull. These women are intelligent, brilliant and whatever glass ceiling was in their way they have obviously broken. They agreed to be in the article because they are successful, sexy and they know it. To say the article was tasteless is a joke. The hearts of the writer and the women that participated in the article were all in the right place. The people that usually have a problem with a “Sexiest Women Article” are not sexy at all and are not successful. Congratulations to those women and the writer for bringing attention to their success. Good luck to them in their continued success in whatever they do.
I think it's ridiculous women are a huge part of our industry and will continue to play a big part . Any one who feels this needs to be discussed should be removed , this site is for learning , growing and networking
