I am curious if anyone is using a turn table to shoot pictures of their vehicles? I am interested in ways to make the process of shooting our inventory more efficient and thought that this would be a way to quickly shoot the vehicle from every angle. However, the ones that I am finding online are pretty pricey and meant for a showroom display. I work for a used car dealership and our inventory turns quickly so it is critical to get photos up as quickly as possible.

Michelle - If you are wanting to shoot actual inventory - a turntable is really the best way to do it - however - if you just want multiple angle shots of new models there are many sources on the web like yahoo Autos, Edmunds, etc. that offer "every angle" photography online and easily downloadable.(save target as)

You could probably also have a turntable - or "lazy susan" as some call it - fabricated be a local metal fabrication shop cheaper than buying one, shipping and installing it.

One more wany to accomplish this is to buy a dolly track with a tripod that would circle the entire car, then you are moving the camera - not the car...a way to cheat but it would work.

Call me if you still have questions - i'll be happy to give you any advice or help.

I have a great solution for you for using turntables... It is WAY better then just rotating the cars for pictures. Feel free to contact me about it. Nothing in it for me to sell to you, just some free advice about how to optimize your inventory and media - and use a turntable to do it!
