I have grown a deep admiration of many of you, my colleagues, over the past several years. I cannot however wonder, can we all still remember what is truly important? While capital gains, and returns for our investors remains high on the priority list, and rightfully so, do we still remember doing what is right for the simple reason of "it is the right thing to do?"
I must refer to the simple explanation of how I conduct my business "a mans legacy is measured by his wealth and success. The man is measured by his ethics and character"
If this was rampantly so in our industry, there would be alot of attorneys out of work. While I truly beleive that most of us deal in an upfront and ethical manner with our customers, please still remember that the word of the law does not always mean it is the "right thing."
If our company gives back to the community, thats great, but we should not do it as P.R., we should do it regardless of the cost. I met a couple yesterday, very young. They had bought a car from a company for $2200 which they struggled to pay the downpayment. Two days later the engine blew.
They have a 10 month old baby, he has lost his job, and she makes $1600 a month. Credit is not stellar to say the least. I found a vehicle they could buy for $500 cash, that is mechanically sound, and while not pretty, it should give them good service.
All I ask of you my friends, is that we look at our customers with respect, and dignity. When we can help our fellow man, lets please do so. I am sure that most of us have our hearts in the right place, I only post this for anyone that may struggle between profit, and humanity. We have all been there.
God Bless,
