Mark Twain... "Some have an astonishing talent for seeing things that have already passed."
Isaiah 55:6... Reminds us... "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near." These two statements are similar in that we know there comes a day when it's too late to look ahead, for the opportunities were all yesterday. As people of faith we understand the importance of seeking the grace of God now, lest we "sin away our day of grace."
Well, as it is with salvation it is with the rest of life. We must not wait too long to act upon our dreams, gifts and opportunities; they can disappear in the fog of inaction. Lethargy and apathy are the great enemies of discovery, progress and success: so we must overcome the inertia of doing nothing. Let us not be numbered among those to whom Twain refers! Yesterday is sooo yesterday and today is nothing less than the foundation of our future! Let us pray for discernment and power to follow the light of God's plan so we will never regret the use of even one hour of our precious time.
The word sin in this Isaiah passage comes from an archery term that means to "miss the mark.". So let us Sense the urgency... Redeem the time... Stay on target... Act with spiritual courage and Embrace the potential that faith releases into our lives. Stay focused and have a great day!
