R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

"Go out and give 'em Heaven." Was how I closed out my radio show everyday.
Now I say I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ cleverly disguised as a car-guy. We are to be His "hands and feet" as that song by Audio Adrenaline says, in every area of our lives.

"The “new name” must be the name of Christ -- the only name given to men whereby we may be saved!" (Acts 4:12)
We must all be "Living Christs" during our journey here on earth...Fear God and Live by the Commandments... We will falter and we will be forgiven if there is true attrition with our prayer of sorrow and promise to do better... Craig, I know that you have extended a loving heart to so many...even strangers like myself.. What we can all do... keep studying, keep praying, keep engaging in selfless acts...the Living Christ! I teach my kids WWJD, constant reminders...What would Jesus do? With a well-formed conscience we can figure that out...
The part of the missing puzzle is completed by the Grace of God... His Son died to save us for our sins...we must never forget!

Craig: Where did we come from? Heaven! Where does God want us to return? Heaven! What does He want us to feed on while here on earth? Heaven! The Israelites received "Manna from Heaven" (the food of life - HIM). God, at the Last Supper, gave us the Eucharist (HIM) to feed on forevermore! This manna is hidden to those who don't believe. Are John's apocalyptic writings here a summary of God's Word in both the Old and New Testaments? "Whoever has ears ought to hear..." were words Jesus was quoted at least twice in each of the 4 Gospels! "To the Victor...a white stone", was detailed in 2 examples I offer here: the first, in Genesis when God changed Abram's name to Abraham (meaning the father of many nations). In Matthew 16 is a second example. First, in MT 16:1-4 Jesus rebukes the Pharisees and Sadducees stating: "An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except of Jonah." Jesus then takes his disciples to Caesarea Philipi to that famous rock wall of idolatry to false gods, and asks His disciples: "Who do they say that the Son of Man is (MT 16:13)? In MT 16:16 "Simon Peter said in reply: "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God"." In MT 16:17-18 Jesus replies to Simon: "Blessed are you Simon, son of Jonah. (NOTE: Simon is the "sign" from Mt 16:1-4). For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Kepha (Aramaic for 'Petra' (Greek) meaning "Rock"), and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it." Jesus needed the back-drop of the idol worshiping rock of Caesar's world to announce the "rock" of His (Peter) that will lead His Church to the Son of the Living God. Peter still denied Christ 3 times, and remained truly afraid until after His Resurrection when Peter immediately took is rightful place as 1st Pope and established the Church Christ foretold to his disciples at Caesarea Philipii in Mt 16. We experience name changes at Baptism, First Communion (first manna from Heaven) and Confirmation, which may help you appreciate why boys and girls are dressed in white, at least for these first 2 Sacraments. White is a symbol of victory and joy. Peter did not prove to remain steadfast in his faith until after his Confirmation at Pentacost where he received God's Spirit and went out and led The Church Christ Himself formed. Even though Paul later corrected Peter (as Pope) on circumcision, the Church remained united in united in Christ. God gives us 2 excellent examples of "Victors" whom received appropriate name changes. Can we believe that if, by His Grace, we are called Home to Heaven, He will have a new name for us there? Believe! Leading a "white stone" life, can be attributed to remaining as pure as possible to the laws of Our Creator over the laws of current day Pharisees and Sadducees. The fact that you challenge yourself openly to be ridiculed (by those P's and S's) or honored (by fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ) shows the Christ-like example He calls each of us to become in life. Stay the course my friend! And when you waiver (sin - we all do), repent, reconcile and immediately get back on His course!
May God bless you abundantly.

Craig -- I understand where you are coming from, and to have this discomfort in your heart about white stone and the business you engage in daily should be causing discomfort. However, while we are to be Christ-centered we are not called to remove ourselves from the world; it is by mixing with the world that we are able to be witnesses for Christ. You are in the ideal place to show by your walk and your talk -- the only witness for Christ many may ever be exposed to -- your faith and confidence in our Lord. Keep strong in your reading of the word and in worship and in prayer to surround yourself with the armor of God to protect yourself from the darkness but you be the light there. Be bold, and my prayers are with you my friend.

At our church we have been in a "Series" called Fearless, based of course on the Bible and portions of Max Lucado's Book by the same neam.yesterday Pastor Tim talked about The "White Stone" mentioned in Revelations and receiving a white stone for the dinner with the Lamb I think is the way he put it. He asked the question are we leading a "white Stone" life?
Can't seem to get that out of my mind, in what we do for a living, it seems so hard at times to lead the type of life everyday in every way to receive that white stone in Heaven.
