R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

I had to miss church today due to illness and this came from my pastors wife.  How lovely for all of us to be reminded of the gifts we are already enjoying from God.

But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified. Thank you Galatians 5

Right you are Victor,my Pastor spoke to this Sunday, our church has about 1800 members,,,what if,each of us brought just 1 person, what effect it would have on the county I live in!

He also gave a statistic that was very alarming that only 48% of Christians have ever invited someone to church....not a good number.

I am compelled to offer up the same idea here,if we all invited 1 person to this conference, the amazing effect it could have on our industry could be ....well industry changing.

Connecting of love of Christ with the heart of the auto industry!

Thanks, Jim.  So much to be done, so little time to do it.  There is so much to be gained.  Use your time wisely and consider attending this conference.

Nancy, I can truly answer that with No. Which actually opens me to other issue. Everyone knows my beliefs so I am under far more scrutiny. Please allow me to make myself clear. I am no angel, I am not a role model, I am just a believer, who loves Jesus first, who conducts morning devotionals and then stumbles.  But I do not check my Christianity because we are called to disciple first and let God take care of the rest.

Truly looking forward to this life-changing event... Ask yourself this one simple question...Do you check your Christianity at the door when you enter the workplace?

cool to see this post - even better not to bump into someone trying to go all politically correct on it - unless i missed it. they say there are no athiests in foxholes, and the same can be said for those of us who battle for an income. don't need God when the government takes care of wiping your butt...
