R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

God-incidence Michael!  Do you agree that God likes to allow us to witness more of his miracles when we stop to appreciate them, AND thank Him?

I had a sister from church come in yesterday for paint touch up a newly purchase Lincoln MKZ from one of my sales reps. Out of the four dealerships she visited, we were the last stop she made before purchasing her vehicle. We prayed over double-mindedness and fear she was displaying on a purchase from us. The fear was of the economy and gas prices and uncertainty. I prayed that the word of the enemy would not infiltrate her mind and we 'refastened' her helmet of salvation against the fiery darts being thrown at her, she was grateful that I brought out what her fears were and left happy, thank you Jesus.

Not so very long ago I entered a sales meeting with my heart wanting desparetly to share that which I found to be one of the very most important things I had learned in the 30 years I have been in auto sales.  Joy! That three letter work that people say in church but not very much in every day life.  They may say happy, they may say glad, but seldom in the workplace to you hear the co worker use the term Joy.  I began the meeting as I did most meetings, with review of the previous day and what was planned for this day.  Seemlesly I began talking about the joy I had about what I did daily and how very much I would like them all to feel the same Joy.  There was no reaction and very little movement from the group.  I continued talking of how daily I had to keep people from taking my Joy.  The first question now was asked, Bill, you mean people upset you during the day with some of the things they say and do and that makes you angry or sad?  My response was simple, "only if I let them."  I continued talking about some of our daily events, trials if you will, that interfere with where we are both mentally and spritually.  It was clearly being received far beyond my wildest expectations.  Joy, I explained is a way of life not a feeling.  It is something that is difficult to describe to those who have never understood it.  To shorten this story a bit for you let me tell you that the message was well received.  To this day, a year or so later, sales managers and staff say from time to time, "don't let that steal your Joy."

A successful Christ centered sales career is built on specific principles.  A clear vision, good planning, great customer service, faith-filled words and actions, and trusting God through the obstacles are necessary if your to grow and succeed in sales.  To reach this success you have to stay focused on your vision and squash discouragement and doubt.

Overcoming Procrastination

Procrasination has been identified as one of the greatest hinderances to success. It's so easy to put things off, waste time on unimportant tasks, give up too easily, and get discouraged at set-backs.  Again to reach the level of success in sales desired you must use your time wisely, eliminate negative self-talk, and persevere through discouragement.

“Faith without works is dead.” James 2:26 (KJV) You can’t just pray for success. Develop a plan and work your plan. If you can do something about your situation, then do it. Stop making excuses, stop procrastinating, and do it!

Try these:

• make a prioritized list of what I need to do and get started right away.

• know exactly what you want to accomplish.

• Imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what God has promised.

One last thing....DO IT NOW!!

Og Mandino...  "Within my heart burns a flame and its heat is a constant irritation to my spirit to become my best. I will fan this flame"

Thank God for an inner-unrest that inspires Christians to be and do better than before. I can't imagine waking up one day and thinking... There, I have really achieved all that I will ever do!  The idea of having attained (or done my share) is a defeatist (or selfish) attitude.  We are called to "go into all the world." It is obvious by the society around us that we have barely begun the task.  I don't need to catalogue the social ills of our community, let alone the troubles of the earth! I pray you will be inspired to re-fire your spiritual engine and make every Sunday a target date for impacting someone's life... Strategize throughout the week on how you can bring someone to church... Share the joy of Jesus... and make a dent in the armor of indifference and apathy that covers the unbelievers heart. It's not too late to make a difference. Have a great day!
