What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.
This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.
So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Happy Birthday Jesus!
Understood Mike, and thanks for clarification. Yes, we can get caught up in christiany things and forget that Jesus is at the center of everything...Merry Christmas!
Vivid story, Mike. Keeping the Sabbath or really any day to recharge in the Lord is worth the discipline. A challenge? Yes,with all the world distractions. But we find we become relaxed, spend more time studying Scripture, meditating or otherwise in fellowship with each other. And how true that stuff gets in the way. What the Lord was telling you is stuff had become your god, an idol. This we must always be watchful for...as much in this world can become an idol (even ourselves). Thanks for taking the time and being vulnerable to comment, Mike.
