R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Hello Everbody!
Attended the Kankakee County Christian Businessmen Association breakfast yesterday morning and it was a blessing. Guest Speaker was a "Used Car Dealer" from Canada who sell's between 500 & 600 cars a month. Facility has 130 service bays. He is very sucessful. The reason for his success is that he dedicated his business to the Lord from the first day. Oh yea! by the way, the nearest town of any sizeable population is 45 minutes away from his location. Never be afraid of doing business the "Righteous" way.

I think if you believe in GOD you really can never hate anyone. If we follow what he says we must forgive which leaves no room for hate.

So now I am drawn to this conversation brought out by Ron Terry... I believe the desire God the Father has for us is to conform us to the image of His Son Jesus, Roman 8:29, our job is to surrender see Romans 12:1 it is a matter of offering ourselves as a living sacrifice and then look to the next verse not being conformed to this world but being transformed of the mind, in other words it is not about rules it is about a brand new life in Christ. Our thoughts are changed we are new creations in Christ we think different which makes us live different but it is a life long process, that is what it means to work out our salvation, a daily living for Christ.
Each day it is a recommitment to God, coming before Him and seeking our marching orders for the day which in simple form means to be in His presence and so close that He directs our every step so we live not in fear but in joy."a man's mind (heart) plans his ways , but the Lord directs his steps".
The Holy Spirit in us is the same Holy Spirit who lived in Jesus what we need to do is decrease so He can increase, that too needs an answer and it is by asking Him in your heart seeking an in- filling each day which is in the book of Ephesians 5:18,19...you can tell when you are there, as explained in that scripture, Psalms and spiritual songs will come forth...
We are living vessels for Christ to shine His light through and draw others to Him...be ready to always be able to give an answer for the hope you have....which is Jesus Christ His life, death and resurrection for us so we could overcome sins penalty which is death, but God's gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus...now that is great hope...
The fact you desire it ,Ron, will be seen in your walk just put on Jesus everyday and let the world... see and they will!!!

Ron: Awesome reflection. You state: "I absolutely cannot be Jesus Christ." True. He is God, we are not. Nevertheless, what Nancy states in becoming: "Living Christs" mirrors what you state you are becoming in your "new revelation", a "Christ-like Example". God is love. Jesus told us: "I am in you and you are in me!" He asks us to follow Him and be an example of Him to others. Now, as we know, God does not want us to ever boast of the work we do for Him. Why? Because, as you note, since we are not God, we must "get out of the way" and let His Holy Spirit convert others, since we mere mortals cannot be God. Therefore, we must only boast of God! Perhaps the response we offer others when we are thanked or praised for anything is to say: "Don't thank me, thank God!"

All...

This is a reply to Nancy's post. Please give me your thoughts.

Nancy said, "We must all be "Living Christs" during our journey here on earth.."

As hard as I try in my Christian walk, I cannot live up to that expectation. It has been a source of frustration to me for many years.

However, I am coming to new revelation about the Christian life. I absolutely cannot be Jesus Christ. However, I can be totally dependent on the Jesus that lives in all of us when we became Christians.

As part of that moment by moment dependence, if I just "get out of the way" and only make myself available for Christ to work through me, there is a possibility that others may see the Jesus that resides in me (and all of us).

How do you see it?

I have never commented here before but I believe being led, by the Holy Spirit, to comment on the white stone in Rev 2:17. I find it interesting that you were doing the study Fearless with Max. I really do not want to do a hugh comment so let me say 1st that we need to hang our hats on John 10:10 and know Jesus came to give us life in abundance and the thief (Satan) came to steal, kill and destroy. We also need to know that we can nothing to add to our salvation Jesus paid it all! Jesus created us for good works Paul tells us that and Jesus tells us to show the good works plus James adds to that with faith without works is dead and scripture adds trust in the Lord and do good. We need to know what is good and, praise God, the book of Micah 6:8 tell us how; to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God. In the automobile business is that possible and the answer is of course, we just need to be fair and honest in all our dealings and look for opportunities to show random acts of kindness with these we can then measure ourselves to Jesus' example and that will give the humble heart. No doubt Satan entered to put fear of not measuring up or living the white stone life and that is his job to steal your joy but what we must remember is we have only to look to Jesus for help to live the life He has for us. Be patient with yourself and realize it is a life long process and when we get to Heaven there will be a white stone with our names engraved one that no one can destroy and only God knows that name which He has reserved for each of us who have received the completed work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ....so for now your name is written in the Lambs book of life and engraved on the palm of His hand let Him show you how to live in abundance by practicing being in His presence every moment of every day.... for in His presence there is great joy!!
