R U a Noun or Verb Christian?
What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.
This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.
So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Wonderful journey of transformation, Ron. It is the Holy Spirit's work to help us understand Scripture and to float to our conscious those areas of our life not pleasing to God -- and it is through the Holy Spirit that we gain power over sins. Remember, our sins are forgiven, but the release of shame, guilt and desire to repeat sins only happens, generally, as we discipline our selves to be obedient to God and to the degree we surrender our hidden desire or secret love of sins. Often we may say or believe we are ready to give up sinful behavior when if we are honest we know we desire to hang on to some of it -- prayer to God that the Holy Spirit will reveal to use these places that we hang on to sinful desire has helped me better understand why shame and guilt have plagued me regarding certain sins for so long -- and then the power to release them to Almightly God. Note too that Satan, the accuser, who also knows all about us, is thrilled to flaunt our sins and guilt and shame before us, as when we dwell on sins, shame and guilt we cannot have our minds on God. Yes, everything is indeed a spiritual battle. Satan’s Plan Against Us:
Doubt: Makes you question God’s word and his goodness
Discouragement: Makes you look at your problems rather than at God
Diversion: Makes the wrong things seem attractive so that you will want them more than the right things
Defeat: Makes you feel like a failure so that you don’t even try
Delay: Makes you put off doing something so that it never gets done

Bobby... Thanks so much for the clarification.
I am very new to learning about the "life side of the cross." I clearly understood the good news of Jesus Christ dying for my sina. But beyond that is where things got a bit muddled in my Christian walk.
I believed that God would help me live the Christian life. So every day, with God's help, I would "gut it up" and try to be a good husband, dad, employee, boss and friend. Invariably, I would fail. So no matter how hard I tried, I could not live the Christian life as I understood it.
What's worse, when I went to church it seemed like all the other guys I knew were happy, successful Christians. What was I missing? I read my Bible, have quiet time and attend weekly Bible studies. If my Christian life was to be attractive to non-believers, it sure didn't feel or look like it.
Then I learned that I cannot live a life that only Christ can live in and through me. I was meant for complete dependence, with God as my source of strength, power and provision.
Now, I am trying to live in moment by moment dependence on God. I still fail much of the time, but I don't wallow in my failures as long as I used to - just confess and repent and trust.
Additionally, when I just make myself available to God and let Him work His power and life through me, I am starting to see amazing things happen with my wife, children and at work
After all these years, I am just beginning to experience the powerful Christian life that God intended us to live. It is deepening my faith and transforming my life and relationships.
