R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Thanks Jim and Jim! That's just the stuff I need to start doing. It's so easy to caught up in the day to day grind of business and forget about Him. When it comes down to it.....it's All about Him!

Thanks for the reminder for me to stop, take a moment and praise God for the positive meeting we had today. After all, it ALL comes from Him!!

Yours is a great story, Gary. I recently put a 3 by 5 card on my laptop reminding me to pray to God every morning in thanks for my business and clients...sometimes too easy to get into the rush of work without such a reminder for me...and it is important to me that I remind myself always of who is in control and from whom my blessings flow.

Hello Nancy,
I pray and know that Christ is present with me in every meeting I have with Dealers, OEM's and Vendors. Without "pushing" the faith on others, I have been blessed to get into selective discussions with folks based on comments made or actions I may take in running a Christian based company. In fact I had a grreat conversation the other day with someone who, after our discussion wqas open to hearing more. I went out and purchased the book "More than a Carpenter" by Josh Mc Dowell for him. A few days later I met with him again and he is really getting into the book. The only thing I can do is do everything I Can Do, and God will do those that I Can Not. Have a great day. Gary

I started a discussion on this group asking all members to share a fulfilling automotive experience where you know the Living Christ was present... It would be interesting and inspiring to share these stories!

Jesus says in Mark 11: 22 and 24, "have faith in GOD.....I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your FATHER in Heaven will forgive your sins, too." I say THANK YOU JESUS!

Just returned from 3 days' men's retreat where more than 200 guys gathered to fellowship and build benches, picnic tables and prepare grounds for kids camp this summer. As the spiritual leaders of our households, we men need to take time out for personal development in our growth in the Word to learn to be more accountable, responsible and engaged husbands, fathers and sons!

Was at Bible study last night and a discussion of Jesus in the boat with Peter, all the rough sea's making every one nervous, except Jesus. This is when I realized Jesus was COOL. Just like "The Fonz". The only thing missing after the seas calmed was Jesus putting both thumbs in the air and exclaming " AAAAAA" just like The Fonz.

Remember, when faced with difficulties, you can find comfort through the WORD of Jesus in
John 16:33.
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." AMEN
