What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.
This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.
So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

...Looks like "Opportunity!"
Many years ago, a large American shoe company sent two sales representatives out to different parts of the Australian outback to see if they could drum up some business among the Aborigines.
Some time later, the company received telegrams from both agents.
The first said, "No business here... natives don't wear shoes."
The second one said, "Great opportunity here... natives don't wear shoes!"
Quite an unimpressive group at 7%! The ethical and honest don't cover up for the majority here, do they?
Amen brother Bobby Compton! This is a morning where I needed to be reminded of that. Thank you....
My Most Important Client
Sometimes I’m asked by prospective clients where they would fall among my client priority. What they mean is how much time and focus can they expect from me given the budget being discussed?
This is a fair question. After all, no one wants to feel less important.
I would hope my clients rarely find me anything less than keen on serving them well and promptly.
However, I have recently recalibrated my client priorities. I must truly answer that question in a way I know I now must:
My most important client is my marriage.
Does that sound odd? Have you ever thought of your marriage as a client or customer -- or your golf game for that matter?
Here’s where I’m going with this:
Where we put our most focus, effort, resources, affection, care and time is what’s the most important to us. Most will agree with this, but mental assent aloe is not heart obedience.
I am one of those men who believe the husband is to serve the wife as the wife services the husband. Briefly, it means you before me. It’s a surprising simple, practical and effective truth.
Making anything else of higher priority than this relationship with my wife is courting foolishness.
Invest in your number one client, your marriage --and you’ll navigate life much better whatever it – or business – throws your way.
A verb Christian is in the constant state of conversion. The Jews at the time of Christ believed in and lived the 10 Commandments, yet Christ was leading them through a conversion from revelation to revelation. They had to cross the bridge from an Old Testament world view to a New Testament world view. They had to cross a bridge from "talking" about the Kingdom of God to "living" the Kingdom of God. "This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." Mk1:15. Lent is still a time of conversion from a religious life based on Old Testament 'talk the talk' morality, to a life based on the teachings of the Gospel 'living and experiencing" Christ in all we are and do.
Pray: Creator God, let me recognize in myself the pride and false piety of one who will not admit of the imperfections of being human. Temper my doubts and fears, restore my commitment to your ways. Keep before me your promise of a new heart and a new spirit; prompt me along the path to this transformation in love and conformation to your image with a new heart with two ears on it to Listen to your Will for me in our silent prayer with each other. Amen!
Good reminder Bobby! We all have to be reminded of these core life lessons from time to time...When something scary comes up in my life, I find it comforting to reflect back and consider the times when I had no where else to turn but to God. When I would be brought to my knees and the only thing left was to seek Him and draw from Him strength, through reading the bible and hard praying and trusting Him for the results. Hasn't let me down yet!
I just wish I would stop and consider this more often rather than just when I am fearing...
Once saved, do we sit on that blessing? Isn't our assignment two-fold: To mature in our walk as more useful slaves of Christ's Kingdom and to carry out Matthew 28:19 -- share the Gospel. If we are not growing in our knowledge, wisdom and walk in the Word -- and then spreading the word -- what rewards can we really expect in Heaven?
