Truecar is here right now. How do you deal with it?

Posted on December 10, 2011 at 10:30am 2 Comments

I have been reading about truecar over the last week or so. There have been strong opinions on each side of the issue. The reality is truecar is here for now and probably will not be going away for quite some time. I don't have time to wait. I need to sell cars right now.

Question: A sales call comes in and the customer says they have a truecar certificate to a dealer that is 50 miles away. Then the question from the customer is "will you honor the truecar price?"

How would you…

What is your process?

When I got into the business in 2003 I came from a manufacturing background. Where I worked was an ISO compliant company. Basically what that meant is the company pays thousands of dollars to have people come out and observe and help create a process. When products, systems, machinery and devices work well and safely, it is often because they meet standards. And the organization responsible for many thousands of the…

A fellow salesman has left

Posted on October 12, 2011 at 10:06am 3 Comments

I am looking for some help from some of the brightest minds in the industry. I salesman I work with has left to persue a new job. I will be taking over his customer base. He has been here 15 years and sold 200 plus a year.

I was wondering who out there has a good email template to let his customer base know I will be taking over his account? I am thanking all of you in advance!

Looking For Feedback from the Pros on this Site

We hade a situation at our dealership yesterday and I thought I would share it with everyone in hopes of getting some opinions. One of my salesman took a deposit for a dealer trade. It was a modest deal about $1200 front to back on a lease. He took the deposit on Tuesday found the car and was able to get it on Wednesday. The delivery was set up for Friday. The customer called yesterday and said the dealer he originally went to called him back. The customer told them about the deal he had…

Stan, I believe that you can purchase the exact same car at many different dealerships so the product lacks differentiation. I believe that the salesman is the lifeblood of the auto industry and that will never change but I do believe that the salesman's responsibilities will change because our younger generations shops differently than before. They are the information generation who search online for their goods and services and do not believe that they should have to negotiate. I spent the last four years at AutoNation conducting focus groups, training salespeople and developing workflow and sales processes to address this emerging market. What is true of current and future generations is that they all expect good old fashion customer service and are willing to pay for it. So, no I do not want salespeople eliminated.
