How to Advertise

What are some different ways to get your name out there as a car salesman? I am new to the area so i really dont have friends and family that i can sell to or practices selling on.

Instead of waiting on ups all day long sometimes and then almost fighting for that up.

Every Day I Need Attention

My unofficial definition of attention (before I go look it up in the dictionary) is something like this: ‘any action that’s purpose is to generate a response from an intended or unintended recipient.

Now, dictionary.com’s definition- “at•ten•tion: the act or faculty of attending, especially by directing the mind to an object. “ I guess I didn’t do so badly, but I really think the second part of the official definition syncs with mine, and also my point to the rest of this…

Most dealerships already have the ability & traffic to double their sales within a 6 to 12 month period but are not firing on all the cylinders that make it possible- and all 6, commonly referred to as the 6 P's, need to be in sync to achieve these results.

The Importance of implementing quantifiable strategies to produce sustainable results – Everything else is just feedback

I have a saying that goes something like this, ‘What you cannot define you cannot measure; what you cannot measure you cannot reproduce; what you cannot reproduce, you cannot control or manage.’ I came up with this quote while designing the K-Method Systems & Processes to explain why most salespeople and the businesses that they work for are continually at odds when it comes to expectations and the results being produced. What I have come to realize as the ‘norm’ for most people is that…

It's Not The Brand You Sell

Just because your store is one of the more popular brands, that doesn't mean you are guaranteed success.  Having the right sign up is no promise that customers will beat down your doors.  And the  right ads or killer Internet presence still doesn't make profitability a sure thing.  Without a key ingredient, even the best of the best will fail.

Mobile Paid-Search Clicks Continue to Increase

A recent study by Marin, "State of Mobile Search Advertising in the US", shows that the percent of paid-search clicks from mobile devices is growing faster than expected, and if the trend continues, is expected to account for 25% of all paid-search clicks by Google by the end of the year.  This includes not only mobile phones but also tablet computers.

Technician Time

Technician time must be managed very well to maximize service and parts sales performance. Technician time cannot be stored, refrigerated, or put into a saving account. If it is not used during the day it is lost forever! The loss is multiplied when you consider parts revenue is generally equal to labor sales in service. So if your shop loses 2 hours a day of Technician time and there are 15 Technicians in your shop your dealership lost $4,500 in parts and labor sales for the day! With 5…

Investing In Dealership Staff Education Is Just Plain Stupid!

How many dealerships do you know where only one person is budgeted to attend educational conferences/workshops designed for digital marketing, social media, or BDC operations.  How many people from your dealership attended NADA this year?

Have you known a dealership that relied heavily on one person to lead their online strategy only to see the new "hot" dealership down the road lure them away? In most cases, the dealership is left hanging…

There is too much waiting

Don’t you think there is too much waiting going on? I don’t mean the kind of waiting we do for a burger at the local drive thru or waiting for the mail to arrive.

And it’s not the other kind of waiting we do these days “plugged in” as we are.

Heck, we all know that in this “electronic” age, society is way too fast and by being so, has turned us into petulant…

The Psychology Of A T.O.

One of the hardest things for a new salesperson to grasp is the significance of a T.O.  The reason why new hires are resistant to the T.O. is because of its negative thinking behind the word “T.O.” The only thing good about the word “turnover” is when it has the word apple in front of it. Think about it, if sales were a sporting event, you would be deemed a loser if…

The Worst Wheel

When my youngest was 7 she said, “I can’t remember – is it the boy or the girl peacocks that have the bright feathers.”

“It’s the boys.  In the bird world, the boys have the fancy feathers to get the attention of the girls.  With people, girls are the ones that dress all fancy to get the boys’ attention.  Boys just need a cool car.”

“Dad, you don’t have a cool car.”

“Well, I’m not trying to get girls’ attention.”

“It’s a good thing.  You’d need a convertible,…
