How to give controlled automotive pricing.....

Before the Internet, automotive dealers had more control of the customer. The only place customers could go for pricing information was the dealership. Now of course they could ask their automotive expert friend or uncle, but they really had no idea how pricing really worked in the automotive industry.

Today with the Internet, and sites that provide invoice pricing customers are more informed then they have ever been. The carmakers also have sites to provide customers will all kinds…

3 Step Improvement Plan

Let’s explore a simple 3-step approach that will help improve any dealership department.

1. What am I doing now?

Do you clearly understand the road to revenue or process flow from origination to transacting business?

For example, are customers handled the same way every time by every salesperson? How detailed is that instruction? Is every phone call answered the same way? Are the sales techniques the same for everyone interacting with customers? (Note, I’m not…

The Best There Never Was

Recently while I was loading clothes into the washing machine (yes I do laundry), my 7 year old son stood there talking about a little bit of everything. In between saying, “really,” and “ah-ha” he confessed to me, “Dad, I’m gonna to be famous and make my own shoes like Michael Jordan.” This struck a chord with me; when did we begin to put boundaries on our dreams? When did we cease to prophetically claim that we would be the most famous athlete, President of the…

What's Wrong With Being Average?

Average is a term I think is often overused.  Average income, average performance, average height, age, etc.  But, when it comes to sales performance, what does average really mean.  For some it means the worst of the best.  For others, it's the best of the worst.  I'm from Jersey.  For me it's the "Cream of the Crap."  Average for me is doing just enough to stay out of trouble and under the radar.  And, if you are perfectly happy, there is nothing illegal about that.  However, you give up…

Update Your Sitelinks to MAXIMIZE This New Google Feature

Before I share this recent change I noticed in Google, I have to say that Google is making frequent  changes to organic and paid search results and dealers have to stay connected with these changes.  Your Automotive SEO strategy can not be STATIC, it has to be dynamic.

It is great to see that a number of automotive leaders are sharing what they are seeing.

Internet Battle Plans Gives East Coast Dealers Choice

For years, dealers in the Northeast have not had choices for local automotive conferences that attract the top speakers and educators in the industry.  History shows that Vegas, Orlando, San Francisco, and Nashville are popular destinations for national and regional conferences.

No Traffic on the Extra Mile

Now, we’re all familiar with the line, “There’s no business like show business.” Well, I wouldn’t personally know if that’s true or not, but I can say from firsthand experience that there is no business like the car business — not just for the controversy and characters, but for the triumphs as well.

In the car business, you have a group of people that range from the dealer principal to the lot attendant, who earns a living and gets some satisfaction from a job well done. On the sales…

Facebook Commercial Solution?

Yes, I believe so.  Social Outbreak.

For years I have studied, practiced and looked for anything that gave my dealers an edge with digital marketing.  Success has always been a tough job.  There are so many lead collection services that compete with my dealer clients in the pay per click format that I had to become a Google Certified Partner to…

Huge News Fall Out and the Boy Who Cried Wolf

Before class started on one peaceful Saturday morning, my yoga instructor made this big announcement with much fanfare that there was some huge event coming to our studio.  There were no additional details as to what the event was, when it might occur, etc.  Just a stay tuned teaser.  I was so excited that I could barely focus during class wondering what this event was, when it was going to occur and…
