After seeing the tremendous success that my last series of blogs "Transforming the Dealership" has brought in terms of visibility and feedback I have decided to start a new series to focus strictly on the BDC. As a dealership trainer and consultant I am sure having an amazing fall and winter season this year because I am working with dealerships on extended full time projects. I am talking about wrapping up my sleeves, putting in the hours, creating magic, and not…

Just the other day I was talking to a dealer that was looking for a new Internet Manager. This is a small dealership that represents two up and coming franchises and sells about 100 units per month. They have 2 Internet coordinators and are looking to add a manager. The previous manager left to go work for a vendor for similar pay and less hours over a month ago.
Here is a dealership that has an internet department that is running with no process and no real idea…

Welcome to Part 3 of a live dealership case study in which I am working on. It has been two weeks since Part 2 was published. As I write this article, I am in literally sitting at an Internet Sales 20 Group where my colleagues and I are sharing best practices with over 50 dealers. It seems that auto dealers are concerned more about their online reputation now than ever before. While it is great to see dealers place a focus on it there still needs to be a structure in place that will create a strong reputation for the dealership. Once a structure is in place, managing an online reputation is actually a very…

So I am working on various digital marketing efforts for this dealership and I decided to do some research to see what photo sharing sites have the best benefits. I mean I know Flickr to be the best but it has been a while since I last researched. I figured photobucket , shutterfly, and others would have similar results. Well I came up with a nice comparison that shows Flickr to be the ultimate site hands down.
Here is the link to check it out:…

Welcome to Part 1 of what will be a major real live hands on case study. Less than 2 weeks ago, I was contacted by a dealer principal of a dealership within an hour from my home. The owner is a female and a real entrepreneur that is a partner in two other dealerships and also owns a wireless retail business with multiple locations. The store is a family environment and has been in business for over 30 years under her control.
She was looking for someone to come in…

Yesterday I was on my way to a meeting at a dealership. I had left the home office earlier so I can be at the meeting earlier especially since it was an 80 mile ride. I was within three miles of the dealership and thirty minutes early. I had never been there before I relied on my GPS as I always do. The GPS that I use comes from my iPhone and the software is less than a week old as I just updated the operating system.
The GPS was pulling in an address from…

October 23-25, 2012 dealers have a choice of attending Internet Sales 20 Group in Chicago or Digital Dealer 13 in Las Vegas.
When looking at the two events on October 23-25, 2012 dealers have made demands about wanting to avoid "timeshare" sales pitches and to build a network with other dealers. They got tired of going to massive conferences with…

We don’t promote conferences very often. Those who have seen KPA at conferences know that we attend nearly all of them, speak at most, and engage with dealers as our primary reason for going. These things make promotion of the events challenging as we know that we’re getting a benefit from them so it’s almost like “double dipping” when we promote them as well.
Every…
