Do you think fast talking or fine print advertising works?

Just had a advertising guy tell me it's our job to get them in . It's your job to sell them. Just here a radio add  that said $69 a month. At the end the words were so fast you could barely understand. It said $3500 down and a was a lease payment  A news paper had a similar add and at the very bottom some really fine print . It stated $3000 down and a 72 month payment to qualified buyers plus taxes tags and so on.                                                                                         Do you agree with the advertising guy's response on getting customers in. Do you think this kind of advertising helps dealerships or hurt them?

Fran, to me there is a few ways to get customers in... The HOOKS!!! like the turkeys, socket wrench set or even 69 a month. I find In my experience, when you do that and drive "hook" traffic that you will be left with a lot of un happy customers and a "few" deals. We tend to get excited about all the traffic but at what cost? You know Fran, what I am all about, driving buyers to the lot, there is few of them and VERY FEW unhappy at our advertising. We get less people in, but the closing ratio is through the roof because they are brought in on solid advertising campaigns designed to bring in buyers. not Gifties..... I hope this is of value to you and your discussion...

As a salesman I drove enough customers on a demo just to get a cherry pie , turkey or a wrench set. That's what helped me to get into prospecting so I wouldn't waste time. How ever I have been with dealers that this advertising worked great. I figured out quickly as a sales rep to work for more money down if they were not a lease customer. At least they were to buy something and it was better than waiting for something to happen.
