Time to move on and do something about it.

This True car deal is no different than the guy down the street advertising at cost or below. It's no different than when the internet came out and people were worried everyone will come in with the cost of a car. This simply is not the case. One thing will remain the same. The best trained sales force can overcome anything. What's your thoughts?

Kevin!  Don't you know that transparency applies to everybody in the deal EXCEPT TrueCar???  :)

I agree with the best trained sales force will close more deals for more gross, if they get a chance !  In the mean time " It is 300.00 more profitable to Match True Car pricing, than it is to be a True Car dealer.  I think while we are educating the public, we should let them know that True Car wants 3 or $400.00 from us for their name!  I wonder how mant would log onto Truecar if they knew that if they go to a truecar dealer that dealer is paying for the lead ?

Well Jim why don't you tell me. I work with dealers that have way more than $200,000.000 to fight this. Do you think they are all stupid? It will end up in court. I believe TrueCar will adjust to the laws and change so dealers can make some money or go out of business. If you are going to say something please tell people how to fix the problem instead of saying I don't get it. Too much talk with no solution.

By no means was I suggesting Fran that you were saying roll over. The point was that you have to keep the heat on this topic, we all have to sell cars and make a living but we cannot let this go.

I do think we need to stay on point... that being that the data, no matter where TrueCar gets it, is private and requires the express permission of the dealer and the customer to post.

Mr Bruce I made suggestions on how dealers can work around some of this wile everything settles. No way did I say roll over and not do anything about it. I have some dealer I do sales training with that have a lot of fire and will fight to protect there dealership and rights. Some of that $200,000,000 True Car has will be spent in court I'am sure. I think more factory's will get involved as time passes. On the other hand the True Car people will fight for what they think is right. I say concentrate and on selling cars until all of us know what is final.

All I think the point is TrueCar would like for you to do as Fran has suggested just work around them. The problem with that...

What happens when TrueCar get of size and starts taking orders for courtesy delivery to the dealers lot forced by an OEM? I'm no lawyer but i think that gets around many state franchise laws.

What happens when DealerTrack lenders by pass your F&I office completely?

What happens when this model goes to Used Cars?

History is filled with scenarios where people thought its too big, its out of my control... they're not going anywhere so I'll just take it.

I like Charles Kim I consider him a close friend but this whole TrueCar / DealerTrack thing is like an onion the more layers you peel off the stinckier it gets.

Gentlemen,

Just ignore the fool who is here to promote his YouTube channel.  When I searched him out on YouTube, a TrueCar video played as well as a Paul Portraz pitch.  He's either a Grant plant or personal provoker looking to drive more traffic to his YouTube Channel.  If we ignore him he'll just go away.  Kill the Beast!

Hmmmm.  Jay, I wonder if there's money for you consulting/lobbying for a change to the Red Flag rules towards what happens with customer data from the site to the sale?  There might be $ in that kind of dust up . . .

I'm glad that as a consultant, and expert witness, to the auto and banking industry that I've have stayed out of this TrueCar discussion. I do find it more entertaining than Walmart on a Friday night.
