Samantha - In theory - instant real-time video sounds better than waiting. People want instant gratification. I personally agree with you that it can work - if done carefully by people with the right skills. Amazon does it. Lincoln did, but I am not sure if they still do. My past few attempts to get a live video rep have failed so they may have backed-away from this.
"Live" has nasty issues that can bite you ... "wardrobe malfunctions", and f-bombs. People make mistakes. Live has no correction. Youtube is filled with epic fails. Another item you mentioned was re-purposing crude communication-quality video for social media or even web pages. "Video" quality varies greatly. Barely good enough to be seen once should not be seen many times. When movies are shot and edited there are always multiple takes to choose from. The real issue is not technical. Getting management to understand what has to be done to get what results from video is. For the most part the application of regular auto sales video presentations is still barely accepted. It it is the philosophical appreciation of virtual people-selling-to-real people rather than the technical elements that seems to be the greatest hurdle to overcome.
Just getting a dealer to accept real video is learning to fly --- the leap to live is supersonic
