Last week, we started to talk about communication. You see, communication is key. And I want to tell you all that I know about it.

In the first video of the Communication is Key series, we brought you straight to the point. When you are who you are at your best, and your intentionality is to love and care for other people - the words will come out right.

Now, let’s get you to the tools that take you there. 7% of your communication skills are words. The other 93% is how you bring those words to life.

I invite you to watch this week’s video and ask yourself, “Are you worth listening to?”

Words have power, but you’ve got to make them sound like they’re coming from a place of genuine sincerity. When you’re using scripts and word tracks that you’ve memorized, they may not resonate with who you are. They might come across as insincere because you have to think about what you’re saying.

Talk from your heart. It builds trust, and it’s so much easier. Study the script, and make changes to it so that it sounds LIKE YOU. It’s better to be genuine and come across as sincere than to memorize a script in your head and “sound like a car salesman.”

Let’s look at some of the equipment in your communication toolbox. Is there something here that you could be paying closer attention to?

  • Natural Rapport - Be present and respectful of the person in front of you, and your connections will be effortless.
  • Voice Inflection - Pay closer attention when you speak. Are you emphasizing the right words?
  • Melody, Tone, Pitch, Speed, and Volume - Communicate so that your customers can experience an emotional attachment between what they want to buy and what you can do to help them.
  • Body Language and Posture - You can learn to understand this easiest by simply becoming aware of your own.
  • Energy - When you learn to control your energy, you can have a profound impact on the energy that surrounds you and all the people in that space.

Bring your words to life, and make them POP! Use your toolbox to communicate. Speak from your heart. Come from a place of service and kindness so you can best take care of your customers.

In the comments below tell us, what’s your favorite tool in the box?
