This week’s Market Insights Report looks at last week’s segment changes, with cars showing greater declines than trucks. The report also looks at 2- to 6-year-old segment depreciation over the last twelve months. Sub-Compact Cars and Compact Cars are both below 10% in depreciation. Luxury Cars have experienced the highest depreciation rate.
“The declines in used vehicle values within the car segments accelerated last week, led by Compact Cars,” said Anil Goyal, Executive Vice President, Operations, for Black Book.
- Volume-weighted, overall car segment values decreased by 0.86% last week. In comparison, the market values had decreased by 0.62% on average during the prior 4-week period.
- In cars, the Compact Car segment experienced the biggest drop.
- Volume-weighted, overall truck segment (including pickups, SUVs and vans) values decreased by 0.52% last week. In comparison, the market values had decreased by 0.55% on average during the prior 4-week period.
- In trucks, Minivans and Small Pickups experienced the biggest drop.
