Cars Performed Better than Light Trucks Last Week

This week’s Black Book Market Insights report shows car segments retaining their values better than truck segments as a whole. However, the vehicle that held its value best out of all segments was the Compact Van, relatively unchanged at -0.01% on the week.
“Luxury brand cars have shown higher drops in value on a percentage basis in the recent weeks in comparison to mainstream brand cars,” said Anil Goyal, Senior Vice President of Automotive Valuation and Analytics.
· Volume-weighted, overall car segment values decreased by 0.31% last week, lower than the depreciation rate of 0.43% seen in the previous four weeks.
· Prestige Luxury Car and Near Luxury Car segments declined the most by 0.94% and 0.57%, respectively.
· Volume-weighted, overall truck segment (including pickup, SUVs and vans) values decreased by 0.43% last week, higher than the depreciation rate of 0.36% seen in the previous four weeks.
· Full-Size Luxury Crossover/SUV and Small Pickup segments declined the most by 0.80% and 0.63%, respectively.
