As of right now California has the most electric car charging stations. But other states are not far behind. In fact, a key legislative committee in Connecticut is about to act on legislation intended to improve the infrastructure for electric cars. Basically it will require an update to state building codes to address electric car needs, develop a plan to promote electric car use, and encourage installation of charging stations. The bill would create a sales tax exemption for hydrogen fuel cell and electric cars, plus open up the state’s high occupancy car lanes on set roads to single driver hybrid and hydrogen fuel celled vehicles.
Almost every car brand now offers a hybrid model. What are you, the dealership, doing to help promote this brand. Is your state offering incentives like Connecticut? It’s time to design an automotive marketing plan around some of these ideas. Google has added display location of electric vehicle charging stations to Google Maps web and mobil apps. So, in attempt to see what is available a search of 25 mile radius around Albany, NY for Electric and Hydrogen stations yielded only 5 locations, 4 are private use only and the only one for public use is a college campus.
As a dealership, be aware of where these stations are and what customers are looking for. When the hybrid models, hydrogen models and electric models come in talk with your
automotive marketing agency about the best ways to promote these vehicles.
