Engagement is everything! If your online community is not engaging you, they aren’t seeing your message. I went into a lot more detail in a recent blog post that I wrote entitled “Car Dealers Are Not the Kardashians”.
One note before I begin, having a lot of Facebook likes is great but having quality LOCAL likes is so much more important. A lot of what I will talk about will be general tips but take them and put a local twist whenever possible. Find topics that people in your community are passionate about!

Today is a very busy day for quality social media content but nothing is more universal that the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Anytime you can rally behind a cause, especially one that virtually everyone can relate to, you will find common ground with people in your community.
A few stats about breast cancer:
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes.
One woman will die from breast cancer every thirteen minutes.
An estimated 40,000 women and 400 men are expected to die from breast cancer in 2012.
Use the breast cancer awareness ribbon in your cover pictures and profile pictures throughout the month. Consider an event at the dealership to raise money for breast cancer research. If you do this, find a local charity to donate the money.
Not to be forgotten but October is also National Diabetes Month and Adopt a Shelter Dog month, two other topics that a lot of people can relate.

Today is also the birthday of former President Jimmy Carter (1924).
Use these tips and get people talking in your community. Once you get them talking with you, you will soon have them talking about you!!!
