Engagement is everything! If your online community is not engaging you, they aren’t seeing your message. I went into a lot more detail in a recent blog post that I wrote entitled “Car Dealers Are Not the Kardashians”.
One note before I begin, having a lot of Facebook likes is great but having quality LOCAL likes is so much more important. A lot of what I will talk about will be general tips but take them and put a local twist whenever possible. Find topics that people in your community are passionate about!
People like to do business with people they know and like right? Create an album on Facebook of pictures of all the employees of your dealership. By each picture, put a small bio about that people detailing their role at the dealership, time employed and how long they have lived in the community. What you are trying to do is humanize the dealership, allow people to realize that everyone who works there are members of the same community, involved in the same things, kids go to the same schools.
Everybody loves a feel good story and this is one that everyone can embrace. Adam Greenberg in his only other Major League at bat was hit in the head by a fastball. After seven years of trying to make a comeback while battling concussion symptoms, the Miami Marlins allowed him an opportunity to take one more swing:

He struck out but everybody likes a fighter!!!
10/3/1863 – Abraham Lincoln declared that the last Thursday of November would be known as Thanksgiving Day.
10/3/1954 – Birthday of Stevie Ray Vaughn. He was an amazing guitarist. He died in a 1990 helicopter crash.
10/3/1955 – Captain Kangaroo aired for the first time on CBS. On the same day, the Mickey Mouse Club aired for the first time on ABC.
Use these tips and get people talking in your community. Once you get them talking with you, you will soon have them talking about you!!!
