A personal mission statement is like an aim that will guide our life towards the path it should follow and the journey it should take up! Therefore, if you have not yet considering finalizing a mission for your life then start doing it now and there is no way better than writing your mission statement. How to write a personal mission statement?
Writing your personal mission statement will not be a problem if you assess a few key points and follow this simple five-step procedure:
1. Introspect your abilities:If you have been able to finalize your mission or purpose in life, you can start forming your mission statement in the right words. Try to include examples of your past success in a brief manner as possible. There are various examples of personal mission statements that you can quote from your own life. For example- “contributed in organizing a fundraising campaign for poor and orphan children”
2. Your beliefs and ideals:Every person is made up of certain beliefs, ideals, and principles that form the core value of his or her thought process. So, when you write your personal statement make sure you include the keywords that signify your ideals. Your core beliefs or values will be a constant motivation in your life. For example- Love for Family, Practical Approach, Logical Creativity etc.
3. Realize your strengths:Your personal mission statement should be based on your strengths and not the weakness. Just try to understand this with an example- if you are a fish you can aim to be the fastest swimming fish but can you practically aim to become the best flying fish too? There will be hundreds of personal mission statement examples that justify that one should focus on their strengths mostly. You can try to improvise your weakness but that should not be your mission or aim in life.
4. Comprehend your aim: Since the thought process is already in place, this is the time that you can comprehend your aim in life. Make it practical and be assured that what you want in life can be achieved in a given time frame. Accordingly, you will make a strategy to reach that aim once you will write the statement.
5. Time to pen it down:After the hard thinking and mind juggling process, now you should be ready to write down your personal mission statement. Use the right words that will motivate you every day. Use the language that is easy to understand and comprehend. You can use a beautiful calligraphic font if you are typing or if you are writing by hands- use as simple and impactful writing as possible.
These simple steps are just the initial steps in changing the course of your life. Our mission in life is like the purpose in our life that defines, guides and motivates our actions in the long run.
