Charles Dudley Warner... "What small potatoes we all are compared to what we might have been if we had just plowed a little deeper."
It is amazing to consider the effort it takes to move from pretty-good to excellent. In so many things we are rendered average only because we don't apply ourselves wholeheartedly. We revel in being generalists; which makes us more available to our whims. We can alter our course in the storm because we have not invested too heavily in the destination. I would suggest we listen carefully to the apostle Paul as he writes in 1 Corinthians 15:58... "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
Our faith-life is the only thing that makes an eternal impact, therefore let us steadfastly commit to a life of growth and excellence as we are challenged to do in Ephesians 4:14-15... "We should no longer be children.... But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ."
The quality of life can truly be measured by the transitions that take place as we grow, mature and fulfill our God-destiny. Thank God, we aren't what we "used to be," but let us pray... "Lord please help us continue to grow until we become what you 'called us to be!'"
Have a great day and enjoy the journey.
