Is Google + for business coming this week?

Some of the enhancements made over the last week to the G+ platform lead me to believe that they will be launching business and branding pages this week. If not this week I gather very soon.

In the last week the G+ has introduced What's Hot, Ripples  and a basic moderation tool for G+ hangouts. I have also heard rumors of phone integration or having the ability to invite someone to a hangout by calling them. All of these features seem to a ramp up to the release of the business pages.

The social world that connects a dealership to its clients and consumers is about to get a new neighbor.  As I said in my last blog, google will be integrating every aspect of the their product line into G+ over time. It is my opinion that moving forward all of the cross-product integration will prove to be a tremendous benefit to this new and emerging platform.

Android devices now have an estimated 50% marketshare worldwide, it will not be long until the G+ app is part of the each every Android smartphone activation. I would not doubt that in the future when activating a Android device that you are asked to log in to your G+ rather than your gmail like it is now. Long term google envisions Google+ to simply be Google. They have the resources and the ability to wait for the Facebook Faithful to eventually relent and come on over. When they do, your dealership should not want to be following suit. You are going to want to already set up shop and effectively.

My questions are, if G+ for business does come this week, is your dealership ready for it?

  • Are you currently active on G+for personal use enough to understand its strengths and weaknesses?
  • Do you have an action plan ready to roll out?
  • Are you going to wait and see how well the business pages " take " before dedicating, time, energy and bandwidth to setting up, monitoring, reacting to this new social space?

These things amongst others are what you should be considering if your dealership to get on the G+ train before it leaves the station. It is not the Acela Express, more of a steam engine and it may take little bit to get up to speed. That said, once it does, you are going to want to be on board because like Doc Emmet Brown and his train in Back to Future III that badboy is going to the FUTURE!
