Jim Ziegler Wants to know "Is it Time For the Retail Automotive Community to Rise Up and Give CarFax a TrueQuality Thumping?"

Enough is Enough!

Haven't you had it with all of these Data Pirates using our own customer information to defame us, lower our profits, alienate our customers... while at the same time they charge us through the nose to do us harm?

Among the worst of them in my opinion is CarFax. They even believe they have the right to price our cars and trades.... too low of course. While at the same time CarFax exploits negative stereotypes that we are crooks in every commercial the Little Car Fox Rats out the dishonest bumbling and inept idiot car sales person. They charge us to defame us.

read this article we just published in Wards Auto Magazine... "My latest article is out and it's hot.

Here are more than 250 Consumer Complaints and reviews about CarFax... look... http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/carfax_inacc.html

We have manufacturers supporting these people and requiring we do business with them. Let's get mobilized and scream at our factory representatives, reprint this article for your dealers, do press releases, and generally alert your State Dealer Associations and 20-groups.

If a consumer asks for the CarFax, tell them it's $39.00. Whoever told you it was free was lying.

I am available to perform 20-group and Dealer Association Keynote Speeches on this subject. As of right now, I am calling out the Tribe to get on this subject. JIM

Keith that's hilarious.  These people are going down and they don't believe they are vulnerable... They need to  speak to TrueCar. CarFax might just be the 'Walking Dead' before we're finished.

not suggesting they would Jim... I'm thinking we could promote a disclaimer that we (dealers) could utilize at the time of CarFax request (POP) that might enlighten customers of their inaccuracies and that they should not make decisions solely based on the same. I would think that would distance dealers from CarFax and help protect them from future CarFax related claims.

You got it David. I'll tell you right now, CarFax would never sign-off on any agreement that held them responsible for the damage caused by their inaccurate reports...  They will always defer their losses  to the dealers. Just sayin' cause that's what I believe in my heart about these alleged scoundrels.

thinking out loud... would it make sense for dealers to have a disclosure form stating CarFax (other) possibilities / probability of inaccuracies for customers to sign, acknowledge or at least view when distributing? I just viewed a lead here that the customer is requesting the CarFax upfront at a distance... It seems that we are acting as almost  complacent in this flawed buying process by giving as much credibility to it as we do. just a thought. DTG

Bingo David, if we're reading these consumer complaints and reviews correctly, which I believe we are...  When CarFax screws up after we paid them and the consumer gets all bent out of shape and goes ballistic, it appears to me it's almost always (actually always so far) that the dealer has to come out of pocket and CarFax skates away free and clear after they created the bad situation. Aren't you dealers sick to your heart of these people already? Get angry, it's good for you. Write something here and call your factory representatives and raise hell if they're requiring CarFax on CPO.

I think I'm interpreting this correctly, correct me if  I am wrong!

I see a LOT of dealership effort in $$$ trying to assist with these complaints. None from the company that caused the problem... Anyone else see a problem here?   http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/carfax_inacc.html
