Jumpstart Automotive Media Path to Purchase Report: Luxury Sport and Coupe Segments Showing Growth in Shopper Interest with a Spotlight on Toyota

Jumpstart Automotive Media, a leading media, insights, and marketing solutions company, today released its monthly share of shopper interest data. The report reveals that shoppers have recently shown more interest in segments such as Luxury Sport, Coupe, Luxury Sport Sedan, and Large SUVs.

Between July and August, shopper interest in the Luxury Sport segment grew 28%; the Coupe segment grew 15%; Luxury Sport Sedan grew 14%; and the Large SUV segment grew 12%. So far this year, shopper interest in the Alternative Fuel category has grown by 40%; and the SubCompact SUV/CUV segment has grown by 34%.

Luxury Sport vehicles such as the Jaguar F-Type have seen shopper interest grow by 51% so far this year, while interest in the BMW Z4 has grown 28% on the year. For Coupes, interest in the Toyota 86 saw a 44% increase between July and August. In fact, Toyota has not led the Coupe segment since its Scion FR-S model led all interest in Coupes in Q1 of 2016.

“This is the second straight month where Toyota has been a headliner in shopper interest for its vehicles in certain categories, with its C-HR Subcompact Crossover making the largest jump in interest for its segment in June,” said Colin Thomas, senior analyst of strategic insights for Jumpstart. “The brand has done a remarkable job with vehicles recently, tapping into key performance and design attributes that shoppers are seeking today.”

For the Large SUV segment, interest for the Chevrolet Tahoe grew 26% from July to August, and interest in the Ford Expedition has grown 44% so far this year.
