Even trainers have days when the message is not about how to sell a car or increase gross.  There are plenty of things much more important than that.  While the passion for training is what drives my colleagues as well as myself, today is different.  Monday morning I will be in a dealership helping hire and train, but today is a day to step back and acknowledge those who contribute so much more.

As a veteran who served as Viet Nam was winding down, I am so much happier at the respect given all of our troops and veterans today.  Those who sacrificed and served deserve so much of our gratitude, especially in today's troubled world.  We all need heroes and people to admire.  Some are in our business, some are athletes, but those who made the sacrifice to put on a uniform representing our country are the real heroes.

I send this out so that each and every one of us can take a moment and go out of their way to find time to thank all who have served this great nation that allows us to prosper in our chosen profession.  Their dedication, discipline and sacrifice are examples that each of us can follow in our daily lives.  Acknowledge them for setting the bar of honor so high.

If your dealership flies our flag outside, take a moment to remember those who make it possible to raise it up each day. If a veteran comes in thank them for their service and mean it.  If you served, as I did, take time to remember what you learned about honor and commitment and then do your job.
