I wrote an article earlier about how to overcome the interstate buyer on the internet.
If you didn’t get a chance to read it yet, read it here on linkedin.
I’m not one to talk theory, instead practical advice that works in dealerships across the country. Therefore I wanted to clarify something with you..
I’m under no illusion that someone that makes a completely silly offer via an online enquiry is worth even a second of attention.
Right now, I am selling a vehicle privately through carsales.com.au and tonight I received an enquiry on the vehicle.
My car is listed at $45,900 as is more than competitively priced to sell. So I get this email from Maurice today saying “Hi David, would you consider $35K?”
While it is very tempting to write back a smart-ass response, the most important thing is to keep your attitude in check and keep mentally up and ready for the NEXT enquiry.
My point is your attitude is more important to protect for the next customer than dealing with someone who is being ridiculous.
Here's a template response though you could send as a reply. "Mr customer, thanks so much for your email and offer. Unfortunately we are unable to accept your offer, but wish you all the best with your new car purchase. At our dealership we ensure quality vehicles at quality prices and deliver both when we advertise our vehicles. Therefore, if this car and price or any other vehicle we have interests you, I look forward to being able to assist."
As I said before, this enquiry doesn’t deserve a second of attention and will often cause you to become annoyed and disengaged with internet leads and customers in general.
The smartest and most proactive thing you can do with this lead…
Ignore it, and be ready for the NEXT!
