I'm posting an email that my friend Shaun Kniffin (from the Germain Group) sent earlier today. He's an avid bicycle rider and will be participating in a 100 mile trek created to raise money to help in the fight to end cancer.

The ride takes place 100 days from now. He's raised more than $2,000 toward his personal goal of $10,000.

You can learn more about the cause by clicking here.

I'm not usually one who likes to promote charities or fund raising activities using work relationships. If everyone were to do it, we'd be bombarded every day with requests for money. And if you're like me, you might feel guilty if you don't give.

In fact, I hate it when groups like the Knights of Columbus stand in the middle of the road conducting their fundraisers or the Salvation Army Santas at Christmas time (just puts me in a Bah Humbug sort of mood). Never make eye contact and walk as quickly as you can past them (of course, I could just be more giving I suppose).

Enough of that -- here's  the email Shaun sent me. And remember, if you don't give something, you should feel like a schmuck....

Greetings Friends, Family and Associates!  Thank you for all the donations!  Thus far, we have raised $1,440 and are well on our way to reaching our goal!  We are down to 100-days until the BIG ride and to raise $10,000 for ONE GOAL … END CANCER. You never know who you are going to reach or even the number of lives that are impacted by cancer.  A neighbor stopped by the other day and wanted to know what the sign in the yard was about.  Turns out that he had lost both parents to cancer when he was a child. Personally, we have had both friends and family members lose loved ones in the past few months to cancer so the ride means even more.  We celebrate the survivors as well and these are the stories that help me push harder and do more for such an important event. Last year, it was amazing to see the number of people that lined the streets and roads along the 100-mile trek to Athens in appreciation and thanks to all 4000+ riders.  So far, over $1 million has been raised this year by over 2200+ Pelotonia riders and many speculate that nearly 5000 riders could be involved this year.  Click here or the image link below to see my profile, donate to the ride, learn more or volunteer. Make it a great day!  Thanks for spreading the word!
