Hi

I am Ervin and I am new to car sales and new to the area Dallas, TX. I am excited to be in sales but nervous about working of commission. If there is any advice that one can give it would be much appreciated.

Hey Ervin, welcome to the car business.  My advice is to learn the basic steps or road-to-the-sale.  There are videos and resources here @ dE that can give you a good start.  Give yourself an overview of all the steps and then begin to master them one at a time.  Initially you may "turn" a lot of your customers to veteran salespeople; remember- half of something is better than all of nothing.  So learn from your turns, speak with the sales rep after they are done w/ the customer you turned them and find out what they did or said to further the deal.  Build yourself a solid foundation, be brilliant in the basics as Dave Anderson says.  When you've got that solid foundation it makes it easier to withstand the storms that come your way (storms will come whether you have a foundation or not, the strength you build on will determine your ability to withstand them).  Best to you, don't hesitate to message me if you have specific questions or for any other info.

Grace and peace,

Brad

Hopefully the Dealership you are selling for has a "ramp up" period including a salary bridge so you can focus on product knowledge, sales strategy and paperwork needed and not have to focus on your paycheck or lack of it. Advice? Being the new person you will almost certainly get more than your fair share of walk in opportunities. So you are going to hear "just looking" quite a bit. When you hear that respond EXACTLY like this...

"Great! So that you can make the most effective use of your time to look, our new vehicles are located right over there, there and just over there ( you are saying this while actually pointing in the locations of your new vehicles)

All of our pre-owned certified vehicles are kept in this area right over here. Our additional make pre owned vehicles are located just over there in order of make model sedan sport ute truck etc. (again pointing o walking them in the direction of the CPO's0

Also we have about 15 or 20 vehicles that are making their way through our service and reconditioning effort.(once more pointing and or walking them in the direction of the pre owned)

what sort of vehicle are you looking for? perhaps it is not yet up front and ready for immediate sale?

Be considerate. Have authority and confidence. Know your inventory and your product.

Happy Selling!
