The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will be the last model year for the Evo.

Whether this decision by Mitsubishi is permanent or if they will decide to bring the Lancer Evolution back in a few years, we won't know! It more than likely will be based on an electric platform since Mitsubishi is hoping to have 20% of their cars to be fully or partially electrically powered by 2020. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been around since 1992 and has been refined in the last generation to include All-Wheel-Control and an innovative system known as Active Yaw Control. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but if anyone is interested in one, they should probably grab a 2014 before they are gone for a while!

What is Active Yaw Control?

With Mitsubishi Motors focus leaning towards electric cars, any chance for a high-performance all-wheel-drive sports sedan is out of the question in the future unless it features some unique electric technology like the Tesla. “Mitsubishi Motors does not have any plans to design a successor with the current concept, as a high-performance four-wheel drive gasoline-powered sedan,” spokeswoman Namie Koketsu said, describing the car as having “icon” status. “Mitsubishi Motors will explore the possibilities of high-performance models that incorporate electric vehicle technology.”
