Production of a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is not happening.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will be the last model year for the Evo.

Whether this decision by Mitsubishi is permanent or if they will decide to bring the Lancer Evolution back in a few years, we won't know! It more than likely will be based on an electric platform since Mitsubishi is hoping to have 20% of their cars to be fully or partially electrically powered by 2020. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been around since 1992 and has been refined in the last generation to include All-Wheel-Control and an innovative system known as Active Yaw Control. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but if anyone is interested in one, they should probably grab a 2014 before they are gone for a while!

What is Active Yaw Control?

Active Yaw Control (AYC) varies engine torque between the left and right rear wheels to give the Lancer Evolution precise traction and handling in just about any condition. Utilizing numerous vehicle sensors to detect cornering speed, lateral acceleration, steering angle and more, AYC instantly directs torque to the rear wheels with the most traction at any given moment for unparalleled cornering, acceleration, performance and control.

2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Power-Plant:

Powered by a Turbocharged 2.0L all-aluminum block engine producing 291 horsepower paired with a Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission with Brembo Brakes.

With Mitsubishi Motors focus leaning towards electric cars, any chance for a high-performance all-wheel-drive sports sedan is out of the question in the future unless it features some unique electric technology like the Tesla. I'm not saying it's not possible, but a Turbocharged Engine just sounds so much better and is an iconic part of the Lancer Evolution. Barberino Mitsubishi currently has several 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions available!

When Namie Koketsu was asked about the future of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, this was her response:

“Mitsubishi Motors does not have any plans to design a successor with the current concept, as a high-performance four-wheel drive gasoline-powered sedan,” spokeswoman Namie Koketsu said, describing the car as having “icon” status. “Mitsubishi Motors will explore the possibilities of high-performance models that incorporate electric vehicle technology.”

Barberino Mitsubishi is located 724 Straits Turnpike in Watertown, Connecticut. If you are looking for a new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Mitsubishi Lancer Base Model or the unique Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback, come by Barberino Mitsubishi to test drive one today!
