Thomas Jefferson ..."Determine never to be idle. ... It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing."

There is a time to plan and a time to implement, a
time to rest and a time to work, but there is never a time to be completely disengaged. Part of the joy found in rest is having expended a great deal of energy on a useful effort! Ecclesiastes 5:12 reminds us... "The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much." The rest that follows such enterprise is enhanced as one re-lives the accomplishment of the day. Vacations are needed to re-energize the body as well as the mind. But continued idleness makes being on vacation dreary.

Proverbs 19:15... "Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger." Dissatisfaction is the fruit of idle minds. The less one does the more one tends to complain about what and how others are doing! Don't rust out like a neglected tool. 1 Thessalonians 5:6
cries out ..."Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober." Obviously all of us need some down time, but far too many sit down to never get
up again. RISE UP, ENGAGE in the Lord's work, polish off your gifts, talents and abilities and be RENEWED. God's not through with you yet, you have challenges to overcome and battles to win. Remember... Five times in the book of Revelation there is a blessing pronounced
for "Those Who Overcome," and the first thing that has to be conquered is inertia.
