TO LAUGH IS TO RISK APPEARING THE FOOL
TO WEEP IS TO RISK APPEARING SENTIMENTAL
TO REACH OUT FOR ANOTHER IS TO RISK INVOLVMENT
TO EXPOSE FEELINGS IS TO RISK EXPOSING YOUR TRUE SELF
TO PLACE YOUR IDEAS, YOUR DREAMS, BEFORE A CROWD IS TO RISK THEIR LOSS
TO LOVE IS TO RISK NOT BEING LOVED IN RETURN
TO LIVE IS TO RISK DYING
TO HOPE IS TO RISK DESPAIR
TO TRY IS TO RISK FAILURE
BUT RISKS MUST BE TAKEN, BECAUSE THE GREATEST HAZARD IN LIFE IS TO RISK NOTHING
THE PERSON WHO RISKS NOTHING, DOES NOTHING, HAS NOTHING, AND IS NOTHING
THEY MAY AVOID SUFFERING AND SORROW, BUT THEY CANNOT LEARN, FEEL, CHANGE, GROW, LOVE, OR LIVE
ONLY A PERSON THAT RISKS IS FREE

Thank you Richard Jungkuntz!
I first read this poem over 25 years ago....I was having a bad day and this poem came across our fax machine. No cover letter and I had no idea who sent it or where it came from. It made a HUGE impact on me that day....an impact that has never gone away and they are words that I have lived by for all these years....I threw away my fear and my ego on that day and decided to make myself better every single day that I am alive!
I love this!
People tend to think failure determines success, but what about this scenario which we see everyday:
Cautious Bill is 2 out of 2 in closing opportunities for a 100% Success rate.
Risky Rick is 8 out of 10 in closing opportunities for a 80% Success rate.
Based on the percentage Bill is 20% better, but is he really? He only goes after a GAURANTEED sale..and shys away from taking risks!
