Second best is as good as second to last!!

We all have our dreams and goals. Sometimes they are a long way out of sight and we know, deep inside, it's going to take a long time to get there. So perhaps it's best to settle for something that's less than perfect rather than struggling for something that may be unattainable? Yes, we all think this way at times but It implies failure: a weakness on one's part to achieve some aspiration.

Never settle for second best when the BEST is out there waiting. Keep this in mind when hiring people. Never settle for an "ok" personality, keep it in mind when you are selling that car, NEVER settle for less than offering that customer THE BEST BUYING experience of their life. If you attempt to give your all and your BEST at every single given time and with every single aspect of work and or personal goal setting - You are about to realize how great and successful you are about to be. I think that we all at times forget, we all get caught up in life and moments that we give in on way too many occasions and accept less and expect less. Expect the most! Do the most!! Out sell and out live the rest!!

I have a group of friends that are military aviators.  They all have pewter mugs from the day they got their wings with an inscription that reads, "Soaring with eagles is as much about attitude as it is about altitude."  I wish I had one of those pewter mugs, but I do have the saying posted in my home office.  Attitude sometimes can drive fortitude and therefore give anyone the access to achieve.  Scarlett was a prime example of having the moxie to make a difference.

Thats a nice and fine lady to look up to :-) Well I wish I could tell a similar story lol. Anyway, If you believe it you are 80% there and the rest is all daily motivation, the drive and perseverance. It helps more than A LOT to surround yourself with positive influences and only those :-) Its a miracle and something very great to have the passion whether it comes from need and desperation or being a goal driven individual. I did not grow up in the US and saw the movie  "gone with the wind" for the first time not long ago....that movie says it all.. :-)

I was raised in a series of part houses in Southern California.  I think because I was a child, it did not seem like my Grandmother having a hand in how the show was run in the family business was out of sorts.  Now, when I look back on it..having a woman drive the success of a parts house in the 50's,  60's and 70's was a bit pioneering.  My Grandmother was a highly skilled and capable woman and always had the right words at the right time.  She use to tell me,  "If you can see it, you can be it."  She was the first of my female mentors.  I hope to aspire to fill her shoes someday for a curious young lady who believes the world can be her oyster!!!

Stephanie I could not agree with you more. It is wonderful to see more females entering the industry regardless of their position.I find it interesting that many companies, especially marketing have 80% or higher positions that are not filled by women. Respectfully to all your great gentleman out there :-) I believe women can dramatically influence and contribute with their creative thinking and problem solving gifts. Most buying decisions are made by women but yet not much presence in the corporate and management positions. Hey, I guess baby steps is wonderful too. I have a few mentors in this industry that I admire, look up to and that daily inspires me and fuels my drive for success. They are all wonderful MEN :-) No females. We need some more female leaders that can inspire and set an example for all women up coming in this industry. I feel truly blessed to know some exceptional guys that at all times show true character and sets such a wonderful example for me. Stephanie, our ladies will eventually play cards with the boys :-)

Lizelle, thank you for your words.  I am enjoying seeing more of my female peers on the sales floor and service lane, but where I think women have yet to really make an impact is at the management level.  The same dynamic seems to be true of the vendors that cater to the automotive industry.  I think the female management staff that we do have are total dynamos.

Stephanie, its amazing and exciting that yet another female appreciates the great mentors and exceptional people we are blessed with that crosses our path. I am anxiously waiting and expecting to see a dramatic increase of sensational females that can play just as hard and smart as all the boys :-). Having mentors in this industry is the most amazing feeling and daily inspiration for myself as I am sure to you as well. What areas of the auto industry do you think we lack the most females and power driven women?

Thanks, Lizelle!  I have been entertained by the stories of some of the most amazing women....and many of them come from the Automotive Industry.  I feel like I am in a highly coveted and exclusive club with a dynamic set of mentors.

Wanted to add something else. Maybe this is just my way of thinking and Fran you might be right on:-) My dad has really engraved this in my soul as a child  and these words might sound strange because I am translating into English. He use to say every single person wants to be at the top, the only people who get to the top and STAY at the top are those that do what enormously large trees do all the time : The highest trees get the most wind , and see that high tree...Its still standing. :-) Leave it to my family of course to compare humans to trees lol
