I have a small business that offers Merchant Services for Auto Dealers, Marketing campaigns for all small businesses, and Marketing systems for Salespeople.
I just wanted to say a few words about Prosepecting and how it has changed, perhaps even give some solid advice.
For 30+ years I sold Automobiles. I prospected in such a manner as to never take an up. In December of 1994 when my team (9 guys) sold 374 new cars in a month, people like Peak Perforamance were asking me to talk to their audiences.
1) Have your salespeople build a facebook page. Reason: Average friend count 250. 250 x 250 = 62,500 pages. Multiply the number of people you have working for you by 62,500. Makes sense now.
2) Have your Sales, Parts, Fleet and service manager write a blog. Reason: Blogs when linked to your web sites will help you go higher in the search results. Link them on everyones Facebook page as well.
3) The dealer must have a twitter page. Reason: You or the GM are running the show, and you did not get there by accident. Share content with your people to motivate them.
4) Whatever television commercials your producing, put them on You Tube. Reason: Most people don't watch them on televsion anymore, and on Youtube they are looking for them., And they could go viral.
If you do just these 4 things your market share will go up exponentially. The blogs will be shared, the facebook pages will gather friends and soon placing an ad or special is easy... Just twitter it.!
