Social Media Tip #106: Have a Voice on LinkedIn

The great thing about LinkedIn is that there's always something more you can be doing to promote your business, find connections, and drive traffic to your profile. The LinkedIn community is diverse, intelligent, and constantly growing. Successful business professionals are working to leverage their presence in this network to learn from their peers and succeed in their own business endeavors.

In that spirit, here are three easy yet effective ways to have a voice on LinkedIn in order to increase your visibility:

1) Put a LinkedIn 'Share' button on your blog and/or website. It might seem basic, but this tactic will get the word out about your social platforms outside of LinkedIn without you having to do extra work to promote them to individuals. Anyone who reads your blog and shares one of your articles to his or her LinkedIn network will be making your business visible to hundreds or possibly thousands of connections.

2) Share content from LinkedIn to Twitter. When you have an article to share, make sure you check the little Twitter icon on the bottom right side of the box. It only takes a second, and opens up your LinkedIn profile and content to your Twitter network - another large network of followers who may  not otherwise see your LinkedIn content.

3) Share content from your general profile to specific LinkedIn Groups. After you post an update and see it appear on your profile, click the 'more' button and select 'share to groups.' Then select whatever groups you are a member of whose members you think would find your content relevant.

At the end of the day, the bigger the audience you can reach, the better. So get out there and start talking!
