When you hear the words blind pilot you might think of the music band, or something that is impossible. Myself, I will be thinking of Jim Platzer. Jim was President of a Fortune 500 company and a pilot for over 15 years. He began to lose his eyesight in his 20s, when he was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. This disease led to Jim being totally blind however, he didn’t give up his love of flying. He developed a method where he had a guide pilot sitting next to him, giving him directions on which way to turn and the degree of bank. The thing that impresses me most about Jim is he faced his challenge head-on, refusing to give up on his dream and love of being a pilot. This characteristic is a difference maker.

Most of us have obstacles that enter our life on a regular basis.  Very few of us however, will respond like Jim Platzer. What’s your excuse? Normally logical reasons will come into your mind why you can’t overcome the obstacles you’re facing. You can convince yourself mentally it’s just impossible to achieve, and to begin working to face the worst case scenario. While you can’t use the excuse that your blind, your brain will likely think of something.

I invite you to begin any challenge with positive thoughts that you can see, walk, and overcome any obstacle in life. Face your adversity with a passion and understanding, nothing is impossible. Be like Jim Platzer and fly!

Sincerely,
